After You is a hot spot for all sweet-toothed Bangkokians, serving a range of delicious treats, including a signature shibuya honey toast. Anywhere that proclaims ‘There’s always room for dessert’ as their mantra and serves a great selection of breakfast dishes and sugary snacks quickly becomes a real must-try in Bangkok, so don’t be surprised if there is a queue during peak times, they move fast and there are now five branches around town to try them in.
The original After You cafe is located in Thong Lor, about 100 metres along Soi 13. It’s probably best to take a taxi from Thong Lor BTS, which will take around five minutes and cost around 50 baht.
The menu at the counter has mini Polaroid snaps of all the dishes to whet your appetite. There are three categories: shibuya toast, signature and breakfast. Classic shibuya toast is a thick chunk of toast served with honey, vanilla ice-cream and some extra honey. It is easily big enough to share between two or three people, and if you don’t fancy the classic toppings, try chocolate, banana or toffee. If you’re the kind of person who doesn’t like to share desserts, check out their signature range, The Queen Bee Fudge Cake is chocoholic heaven, a slice of chocolate cake, with more chocolate, marshmallows, with warm fudge sauce and ice-cream, another way to get your sugar fix is with the slightly less sweet strawberry crumble. The breakfast menu isn’t so sugar laden but it’s still calorie rich; the cheese and bacon baked egg toast is worth trying if you’re hungry. The drinks continue the sweet theme with most of lattes, frappes, teas and coffees available iced and hot.
